My research interests pertain to questions of socialness, emotion, cognition, and other fundamentally human factors in computer human interaction. My research attempts to help understand user motivations and behaviors in order to generate principles for designing products that appeal to users on an immediate, affective level. To this end I have conducted numerous empirical user studies in the field of novel and emerging technologies in both industry and academia.
A selection of past projects is listed below. Other projects have included context-aware/location-based mobile devices, innovative technologies for lesser developed communities, psychological processing of voice interfaces, embodied conversational agents, and a number of other projects.
