A celebration of love

Saturday, Feb. 19th, 2000

Around the turn of the millennium, San Francisco was the center of the universe. Dive bars were saturated with ingenuity, and over 99.9 percent of apartments were occupied. Millionnaires slept on living room floors and optimism was boundless. Noone knew how soon they would start packing their bags again. On February 19th, 2000 we gave this time the party it deserved.

"There's Love between my Legs/Viagra at Niagara" was our New Millennium celebration of Valentine's Day and Lupercalia - the ancient Roman festival of purification and fertility - hosted by me, Dav Coleman, and cypherpunk Sandy Sandfort at our house on San Francisco's Niagara Avenue.

About 150 PhDs, artists, and creative dot-commers had "the best time they'd had in public", happily mingling with equally distinguished (but better known) members of the adult entertainment world. We offered free aphrodisiacs including Viagra, and a backroom with sumptious live hostess on duty for our valued guests, courtesy of the hosts.

Word spread fast that night. Sleepy Niagara was lined with stretch limos of unknown origin, causing 2am traffic jams in our secluded San Francisco hideaway spot. We welcomed silk-clad, gold-chained, cigar-smoking, Armani-wearing middle-aged Afro-American gentlemen we had never heard of who made splendid company, and a myriad of striking assorted strangers to complement our juicy concoction. It was a huge success, and people went home quite happy.
